Flag Day Celebration at Cadiz Cemetery

Flag Day Celebration in Franklinville
Saturday, June 10, 2017 - 12:00pm to 4:00pm

The Ischua Valley Historical Society will host The Third Annual Cadiz Flag Day event on Saturday, June 10th at the Cadiz Cemetery.  The public is invited to share in the festivities that will begin with a community picnic at noon.

The Rushford Band will be there to entertain us with wonderful music from the past.  Hot dogs and beverages will be provided.  Please bring a dish to pass.  Come and enjoy an old fashioned picnic.

Boy Scout Troop 1 will follow with a flag ceremony honoring the Civil War veterans buried at Cadiz.  Students from Ellicottville High School will once again participate and sing in memory of the brave soldiers buried here.

In 1863, President Abraham Lincoln arrived at Gettysburg Cemetery to honor the thousands of Union men buried there.  The speech was only 273 words long, but many historians consider it one of the most eloquent speeches ever given. The ceremony at Cadiz will conclude with the reading of the Gettysburg Address.

Please take the time to join us in remembering the sacrifices made by the soldiers now resting at Cadiz Cemetery.
